Aspiring YBA inspired by humanity in it's various forms.
The concept behind the whole thing was to create a “big brother”-esque scene. The easiest and most relatable way to explain is this - we have all experience our nosey neighbours; those who, as they pass by, decide to take a littlw peak through our windows to see what we’re doing. My installation reflects this. It’s the idea that we can go our whole lives watching people, not really noticing them or being apart of there lives, yet when it’s on display, we are incredibly curious as to what is going on. We are a nation of busy bodies, so in my piece, when you look through the window, you see yourself, your own life.

Hi,

Sorry, I haven’t been on here much at all!

Thats great, how’s it going with your application?

Luke & Experimentation.

Having a major influence in photography can hinder or benefit my work. Working from images often means that when I sketch from real life, I find it difficult and a still, cropped image is easier to work from - especially in portraiture.

However, with this project in particular, I’ve found a rather large benefit. With my process (and not photoshop) I’ve been able to produce a “new” kind of portraiture. I had influences with this; Man Ray, Francis Bacon etc, however I do not distort the image or face at all - only show another side to the portrait.

Nancy.

With these drawings, I’ve been experimenting with Cliché Verre. I think its an interesting collaboration between Photography and Sketches and gives a more dramatic look of a sketch, with the finish of a photograph.

The nostalgia of A Level photography.

Shape, Space & Movement. Sarah Photo shoot; Winter Project 2011.

After a project based on portraiture, I wanted to consider various other aspects of the anatomy. Looking at how the body moves, it’s shape and the space it can take up, it is still within my research into body adornment, but is branching out further.

After seeing another photographer online, I attempted to photograph Sarah in a similar manner. Having the majority of focus on Sarah, adjusting the appature and shutter speed, I intended to get a very out of focus background. However, that didn’t seem to work. I think that Sarah would have had to have been closer to the camera, with more distance between her in the background, but this would mean working out of the studio, and considering British weather conditions, I highly doubt I’ll be able to do this…
